With the UK now looking likely to end its lockdown in December, and the possibility of a working vaccine, travel restrictions could be easing soon, but will Britain become a nation of “Corona Nomads” as thousands rush to leave for sunnier climes?

Recent research by the property portal Kyero, has seen a huge increase in numbers of people from the UK searching for homes in Spain compared to the same time last year.

Now a lot of this could well be people fantasising about long lost holiday destinations, but here at Lanjarón Property we have also seen a large increase in enquiries, particularly over the last few weeks. After filtering out the browsers, there are certainly plenty of genuine enquiries waiting to move as soon as lockdown is over. In fact, sales are even happening straight from the video walk-though tours!

“Lockdown and widespread remote working over recent months has had a significant impact on the types of people looking to buy property in Europe. Greater numbers of young people, and those now working remotely full time – Corona Nomadics – are considering a move abroad as we all become less tied to the office and are able to live, work and play where we really want to.”

“It seems that the global pandemic has made many people realise that they need to seize the day and not put off their future plans. With remote working now so easily accessible and with all the benefits of living in Spain, even after Brexit, the opportunities open for remote workers are vast.”


With average prices in Granada Province close to €250,000, and with many properties available around €150,000, this makes things even more attractive to remote workers.

Whilst house prices have certainly taken a hit over the last few years, and especially with the effects of Covid, many market commentators are expecting prices to return to early 2020 levels by the end of 2021.



Mathew Wood added:

The biggest increase in enquiries have been for fincas and cortijos that are situated out of town and especially in the €100,000 – €150,000 price bracket. This appears to support the statistics and there is strong demand for this type of property.”
